Title: Sailfishing Winterlike Despite the Heat
Although the weather has been summer like at times this month, the fish know it’s November, and anglers know it too, with multiple catches of Sailfish and kingfish this past week.
Sailfishing has been very good this week despite warm weather and calm seas. Anglers have been catching sails using kites and live bait fished along the edge. The fish have been caught from 120 feet out to 180 feet of water. The most consistent action has been from just south of Triumph reef, north to Government Cut. Many captains have made catches of over five fish during a single trip. Afternoons have been prime time sailfishing.
Besides the sailfish, the kingfishing was slow at the beginning of the week, but picked up in the afternoons after this weekend. Anglers have had problems with the ocean talley’s stealing baits fished along the reef.
http://www.miamifloridafishing.com/images/wahoodan.jpg.JPG On Saturday, we fished south of Triumph Reef and released one out of two sailfish, caught one nice wahoo approximately 20 pounds, two big cero mackerel, a big mutton and had our asses kicked along the reef while we were slow trolling live baits along the reef. I am almost sure they were, grouper but we couldn’t keep them out of the rocks.
Look for Sailfishing to continue to be good to great, especially if we can muster up a rip-roaring cold front. (We are supposed to see one this Thursday). Bottom fishing should also be picking up for Muttons and Grouper. During the next full moon African Pompano should be active along the artificial reefs off Key Biscayne.
