Title: Fall Run Dolphin Best Bet

You may need a palm reader to tell you what day to go fishing, but if she's any good and tells you the right day, I'll bet you'll catch a box full of dolphin. Lately, the dolphin fishing has been good one day and poor the next.

These have been fall run dolphin which have been running an honest five to twelve pounds. They have been anywhere from 200 feet out to 1200 feet of water. The majority of the fish have been found under ("floaters") debris. We found fish this week under a scattered weedline off Fowey light in 1000 feet of water. There were no birds, just clean blue water and a good looking weedline. We trolled the line for about two minutes when we encountered a large school of hungry fish. They hit live Threadfin herring and we left them hitting. We then tried closer along the edge for Sailfish but had no luck. The water has been dirty and the current was either non-exixtant or moving to the south. Recently the sailfishing has been good. There have been a few kingfish around the "boil" off Key Biscayne. Baitfish have been very plentiful, with large schools of Pilchards inside south Biscayne Bay and schools of Threadfin Herring in Hawks Channel.
